Ajaccio The territory has for some years a significant increase in archaeological operations authorized by the Regional Archaeology Service (DRAC Corsica). Surveys, inventories, surveys, diagnostics and preventive excavations have been carried out on common Afa Ajaccio, Alata, Appietto, Bastelicaccia, Coti-Chiavari-Prugna Grosseto, Pietrosella, Sarrola-Carcopino and Villanova. The results of this work deserve to be presented today to institutional partners supporting and authorizing the archaeological operations in the scientific community and the general public. Twenty university stakeholders, scientists and professionals have returned during this conference a varied picture of archaeological, historical and architectural land surrounding the Gulf of Ajaccio. We have included six millennia of occupation from prehistoric times to modern times in a territory rich in nine districts.
The symposium was held from November 12 to 14 by presenting lectures in days , films, documentaries and two evening shows: children's work and posters. November 14 was devoted to visiting heritage sites in the towns of Alata, Ajaccio and Villanova.

The LRA was established in 2004 under the leadership of Daniel Istria (charge Research at the CNRS) and was supported from its inception by the Territorial Community of Corsica to be a key link between scientists and the general public. Archaeologists from the LRA's main tasks conducting prospecting operations inventories diachronic-hiking in order to search for new archaeological sites and monuments. These archaeological operations can expand and update the national archaeological map and enrich the knowledge of the island's heritage. These features enable to trace and understand the process of occupation of these towns.

• Valuation of discoveries from the field work in the tourism and economic dynamics,
• public awareness,
• Extension of the results and thanks to a tour of major archaeological sites,
• the establishment of conferences in hotels,
• educational workshops in schools or outside of school (kindergarten to high school) ,
• writing scientific publications,
• participation in national events such as the annual Festival of Science and Heritage Days.

The chairpersons, Mr Vincent Maliet (Conservative Heritage to CTC), Mr. Philippe Colombani (medievalist) and Mr. Sebastien Ottavi (Associate Professor of History) were thanked warmly.
This conference was an opportunity to present the work of the LRA for the past five years. This work was supplemented by studies conducted by researchers who worked on the microwave region. Thus it was possible to get an idea of all assets archaeological, historical and architectural planning Ajaccio on a period of time ranging from prehistoric to modern times .

The Chair of the LRA, Miss Elizabeth Pereira, professor at the IUT de Corse, after introducing the Regional Laboratory of Archaeology, revealed the progress of the conference and to thank all partners.
Prehistory has been honored by the papers and posters on the town of Alata (H. Paolini-Saez), mode of life I millennium (F. de Lanfranchi and J. Alessandri), burial of San Simeone (L. Doazan and M.-A. Gardella) and the sites of the Bronze Age and Iron Age around the Gulf of Ajaccio (K. Peach).
Antiquity was enlightened by the presentation of sites in the lower valley of the Gravona (L. Casanova), the ancient shipwrecks in the Gulf of Ajaccio (H. Alfonsi) and a new look at the topography of ancient and medieval Ajaccio (D. Istria).
The Middle Ages has been a general presentation on the whole territory (A. Venturini and P. Colombani), supplemented by a description of the hamlet premodern of Montichji (A. Huser), the presentation of the ceramics of the same hamlet (E. Tomas) and the tower house of Appietto (P Committee).
The modern era began with the presentation of a Genoese colony in Coti (H. Paolini-Saez), followed by the evolution of the citadel of Ajaccio from 1492 to 1570 (A.-M. Graziani) and architecture and urbanism in the nineteenth century in Ajaccio (JF Mata).
Longitudinal studies were also presented: the human occupation of the territory Ajaccio (P Committee) and the exploration of joint-stock Pietrosella (H. Paolini-Saez).
The exhibit "Archaeology and Heritage: eyes of children" presented work done to children during school hours or outside school hours .
The class of kindergarten Martine Lebaud (Loretto School in Ajaccio) has started to reproduce a Neolithic village of 6 th millennium. Construction methods and materials are identical to those of our earliest ancestors.

Among the many works of workshops on Wednesday afternoon, we have exhibited paintings representing the Paleolithic rock art.
